Social Beams connected with Pyrrhica, the mastermind behind the account, who is an artist hailing from Portland, Oregon. After a decade of globetrotting, she made Perth, Western Australia her new home where she spends her time creating memes and painting feline portraits. During a recent interview, she shared the story behind her project.

According to Pyrrhica, the concept of the account was sparked by a tweet she came across that read, “I wish I could tag my cat in memes.” This led her to start a Facebook page with the same name. She eventually migrated to Twitter to continue her mission. The person who wrote the original tweet even reached out to her to express their excitement about the creation of a real community based on their post.

It comes as no surprise that Pyrrhica considers herself a cat lover. Currently, she is fostering a feline named Lucy and is on the lookout for a permanent home for her in the Perth area.

Lucy has already gained popularity online, and finding a new home for her likely won’t take long. The artist has turned her into several memes and shared that Lucy, as well as her previous experiences with family pets, are a source of inspiration for the captions she writes.

Pyrrhica has mastered the art of combining silly cat memes with relatable captions, leading to the rapid growth of her account, with over 152K followers in just under a year. When asked about the most popular posts among her followers, she stated that they love memes that make them relate to their own cats and wish they could tag them.

The creator also shared that her personal favorites are the memes she creates featuring silly cat photos and their obsession with wet food, inspired by her foster cat’s behavior.

Pyrrhica mainly sources the pictures for her memes from her own searches, but also receives contributions from her followers. She shared that a lot of people send her cute images of their cats, making the process of running the page an enjoyable experience. Although not all submissions make good memes, they always bring a smile to her face.

In addition to running the Twitter account, Pyrrhica transforms some of the funniest feline memes she finds into beautiful paintings and posts them on her website. She has a deep love for cats, which led her to turn her passion into a job. The Twitter account serves as her main platform to reach out to cat lovers who appreciate her art.

According to him, dogs have a different perception of humans compared to themselves. Upon encountering a human, their behavior changes instantly. However, when it comes to cats, they do not seem to modify their social behavior in the presence of people, even though they are aware that humans are much larger than them. The actions such as raising their tails, rubbing against our legs, sitting next to us and grooming us are the same behaviors that cats exhibit towards each other.

According to the expert, cats are much more intelligent than we give them credit for. There are certain behaviors that often leave cat owners bewildered, such as why they yowl in the middle of the night or their fondness for kneading. The expert explains that cats are quick learners and can easily understand how their owners react to specific noises. They use vocalizing as a way to get our attention and purring serves the same purpose.

According to the expert, kneading is a way for cats to communicate with their owners and is rooted in their instincts. This behavior is derived from the mother-kitten relationship and is a way for the kitten to show affection toward their mother. By kneading their owners, cats are trying to mimic this behavior and express their love and comfort. Bradshaw mentioned that “all the behavior they show towards us is derived in some way from the mother-kitten relationship. The kitten learns to raise its tail, rub on its mother, and knead and purr. Grooming is what mothers do back to kittens.”

“Cats exhibit quirky and playful behavior because, to them, our homes appear like a jungle,” explains the expert. These adorable creatures are, in essence, wild animals attempting to acclimate to an unconventional domestic setting. Fortunately for us, this combination of unpredictability and cuteness makes for some entertaining and meme-worthy moments.
